Yesterday was a half day and most of the day was spend on the kids' costume parade and class parties so it was a good day to get paid to do barely anything, I just walked back and forth between my classes that have newcomers (NCs) and Basics (Bs) to make sure they were having a good time and if they needed help understanding something. Two of our NCs this year are from Iraq and the older one (3rd grade) kinda looked like he thought we might be tools of the devil and I also spent some time explaining, using our picture cards, that the hot dog he wasn't eating (he took off the bun) was cow and not pig (so many of our kids keep halal that we requested beef franks (although I don't know if they were kosher which would have been been good because the standards for kosher and halal are so similar) but he just insisted at his house they didn't eat hot dogs (using many fewer words). Oh well, his younger brother (2nd) had a complete blast!

I dressed up as a cowboy. Except I couldn't wear my gun belt since wearing something with a space for a weapon would have broken zero tolerance and the kids are forbidden from having weapons of any kind so what kind of example would that have been? Of course for people that haven't heard me complain our school technically celebrates "Fall Festival" thanks to some crazy asses a few years back when apparently the previous superintendent was a pussy. It is highly amusing that the teachers and students still do everything the same and say "Happy Halloween" and the teachers that like scary stuff put it up. A command decision never changes the hearts and minds of the people, I guess is the moral of the story.

I came home and my mom (her day off is Friday) and I decorated the front porch in order to terrify children (which didn't work this year, even the little guys just stared in awe and shuffled up to the door). We also have to run out and get candy. In the end we got about 40 Trick or Treaters which is just a disappointing number! But a good thing we decided to only get one box of candy (52 regular sized pieces of snickers, skittles, peanut and plain M&Ms) when we used to get two but last year we had soooo much left over candy.

I also complimented a Sasuke cosplayer and I think he was very surprised I recognized him (I didn't tell him I don't like Naruto, hah). His dad is taking him to Youmacon today so the people there today will probably see him, I told him to get a button!

So I was starting to get concerned that I'd had Smudge for 5 weeks and no kittens in site, no signs of even inactive labor(besides what looked like milk crusted nipples so who know what was up with that) so I called the vet.

Still not (oh yeah, this gets a new paragraph) sure exactly what is going on but my theory that makes me vet look the least like a liar (and why on earth would he do that) is that when he said "2 - 3 weeks" I thought he meant LEFT and it must actually be IN TOTAL (except there is like no way he would be able to feel a two week pregnancy and I'm skeptical on a third (except she already had a belly due to her 4 - 7 (and looking more like the higher number all the time). Arghhhhhhhhh. I most likely would have just gone ahead and spayed a first trimester pregnancy (early 2nd, tops). Hell, that's a legal human abortion. But when I thought there was only two weeks A)The kittens have made it this far and are almost viable in the outside world B)Late term abortions are always more tricky than early term.

Then when I called he said he thought he remembered her being 4 weeks and I know he never said anything about 4 weeks, positive and since he is a doctor and this was three weeks ago it is possible he was thinking of another patient.

The point is that Smudge is just now 7 weeks pregnant and maybe only 6 weeks. The point is that she is HUGE and will probably have a shorter pregnancy (9 weeks is textbook but a week on either side if completely normal) because her multitude of kittens will run outta leg room quicker than fewer kittens. Still, at least another week on these babies if not two or three (she probably has too many babies too make it to 9 weeks but who knows). The point is she won't even give birth until July and the kittens won't be ready until September.

Still, if anyone on my "thinking about it" list were to get another kitten rather than wait for mine... I will explode so pass the word. Kittens will be late but still adorable. Preorders excepted from outstanding applicants.

PS:Smudge is getting used to Nala, awww yeaaaaaah. They were both on my lap last night.

I took in a stray cat that my boss was feeding at her home in GR and we thought she wasn't pregnant (boss lady was not going to push a pregnant cat on me) but I took her to the vet today and prior to that, she has been getting fat and with love handles in the past couple days. Also once I started feeding her and she gained weight she looked older than I had originally thought her to be. I prayed she was just fat and not pregnant (she was eating a lot of kitten food, after all) but alas, my vet is thinking 4 to 7 kittens although it is imprecise since all he can do is feel for kitten sacks.

I actually was going to post about her, in case I could find her another home since we certainly don't need another cat but I wanted to wait until I got her to the vet and got her shots and stuff (well, no shots for her right now). I should have just tried to foist her off on one of you right away! XD

Anyway, she is a tortoise kitty named Smudge (my boss named her) and probably in two weeks have kittens.

Looks like I actually won't be continuing my plans to spend the summer in CA.

I post this now, pre any kitten arrival because if any of you or anyone you know is thinking of getting a kitten please wait the two months until mine will be ready to leave the nest! T_T

Today is the release date for the 3rd DVD in Book 3 of Avatar. I buy the DVDs as I like the show so much. Except THIS DVD has episodes that never even aired on the teevee W.T. and F.

2 of the episodes aired in other countries and the last two have been seen by no one, as far as I know (and believe me, I would have heard).

I wonder how much of this is f-up and how much is "we don't care" and how much is "hey how many more DVDs can we sell this way?"

Today one of my ELL (English Language Learner has replaced ESL in US elementary ed as the preferred letters) kids that I barely ever see because she isn't in either low-oral or low-math walked from the 1st grade hall to my classroom in the 3rd grade hall to give me a cupcake from her birthday treat.

I've only worked here since March and this is my second birthday cupcake (first one was at my other school). XD I also got a birthday cookie by being in the right place in the right time when some 5th grade girls were doling out leftovers to staff.


This week I felt the most together about my job. Excellent.

That will all the customization in Sims2 I am not allowed to make the eyebrows a different color than the hair. I went to make my me sim's eyebrows black (with the brown hair because the blond is so light) but alas, there is no option.

I seem to remember Wii letting me have different eyebrows. Actually, I think my chibi Mii looks way more like me than my sim. XD But I was sucking more in the customization in Sims2.

I thought I would post a quick PSA on Tuesday's Presidential primary since this year is a little confusing since we moved our primary date early and the DNC didn't like it and so candidates took their names off our ballot and then later they tried to put them back on and lots of mess. Furthermore, no one turned in the paperwork to have their names be eligible for write-in counting because of this THERE IS NO WRITE-INS FOR OBAMA EDWARDS OR ANY OTHER MAJOR DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE NOT ON THE BALLOT. That's key because if you write them in your vote will not be counted.

Who you can vote for on the dem side: Clinton, Kucinich, Mike Gravel, and "uncommitted" so if you would like your delegate to vote for someone other than those two that is which box you check. If you want to vote for someone on the ballot than all is normal.(Chris Dodd is also on there but he withdrew after Iowa)

Republican side is normal

Here is a list only still with the people who withdrew after Iowa (Dobb, Brownback, Tancredo)

There will be some issues also on the ballot but they depend on county and city and school district and the like.

You must choose one side in our primary, no cross-voting but you don't have to be a registered party member.

EDIT: I just found out that MI delegates are banned from voting for democratic nominee so while the democratic primary is still on it lacks a point from a strict voting sense maybe more of a symbolic point. ^^;

Srsly. Just buy the rights to Reboot (or Tron), if that's your angle. You'd make more in ratings.

Since I'm positive that the only reason AS didn't just renew their Futurama contract is because Comedy Central (who produced the new episodes) outbid them surely they will be on the air soon. Except I don't know which timeslot... The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are in the Futurama timeslot so once The Colbert Report comes back it won't even matter. *looksup* So apparently they will air on CC but in the 8-9pm slots Wednesday-Friday (and according to zap2it.com)

Some other crackhead show just came on, this one is animated and appears to be about an alcoholic duck.

...Okay, my mom just called to wish me a happy new year. I knew it would be her so I answered with "Happy New Year to you too" XD

Okay, I'm going to send this for real this time.

So how long has it been? Two months? Ceiling cat aka Greta is no longer a ceiling cat, she is a prowling cat. Mom didn't see her for like, 3 weeks except to talk to her and rub her head when she bribed her with wet food, which she hadn't had before and then Greta progressed to forlornly meowing at her and my mom would think she wanted something but when she would get close Greta would run. Then, just two weeks ago she moved to restlessly moving around the house and being very interested in trying to escape outside - we agree she had started looking for her people and it was really pathetic and sad, her wandering around like, okay, I'm feeling better and I'm ready to go home now, has anyone seen my mom? And we really have to watch when we leave the house (she's been in the garage several times now, but the door was shut and we can't pick her up so we just had to go out there periodically until she was ready to come back into the house on her own.

Oh, and in a telling update on "what really happened to the cat?" front my mom discovered, shortly after Greta started spending time out of the basement that she runs away at the sight of a broom. Uh-huh. To contrast, Rupert enjoys sprawling in the dirt pile and grabbing onto the broom. On the other hand, she is always jumping up onto the counter and dining room table and that is not allowed kitty behavior. All we have to do is yell at Rupert and he jumps down again or, since you can tell when he is thinking about jumping up to make a Ah! noise and he won't. But Greta doesn't get off the stupid table! We have to make a brushing motion with our arm really close to her. I mean, we've knocked Rupert off if he is being bad up there and not getting down but Greta is too fragile to make a move like that, Rupert as a member of a loving family (who knocks him off counters ^^;) is made of sterner stuff and knows he was being bad.

So Greta is up on her own (she and Rupert ignore each other) and she follows my mom all day long (when she isn't at work). She is like a small child and just troops over the house with my mom, she said she even has left her bathroom door open for the cat. So really things are progressing in a good direction now she will even lay on my mom's lap (and mine) if we are in the recliner in the family room and be rubbed. I tested out if she would lay with me last night and answer is yes (I can't believe Adult Swim's Futurama contract is expiring, best show on their stupid lineup these days).

She hisses and growls at the boys more than me but that is because they just won't leave her alone, stop trying so hard to make friends. XD I mean, the cat doesn't know which end is up she will meow nicely at you and then hiss and run in the same breath. I was in the kitchen and heard her and said in my nice kitty voice, "Greta, where are you?" and talking nice I see her under the kitchen table and she hisses and "rror"'s and takes off and as soon as she is behind a wall in the family room she lets out a sweet little "meow". So yeah, the cat is still completely nuts but I think she'll be okay. Just don't make too much eye contact or spent any time thinking how creepy her crazed stare is. Good kitty.

Lappy's CD drive sounds like it is going to rip right through the body and kill me. I mean, crazy loud (I'm playing an audio CD for the first time), I'm kinda scared.

In related news, what do you guys use to rip CDs?
